Sergio Busquets is a professional Spanish footballer with positional sense, defensive attributes, tactical intelligence and unsurpassed ability to read the game. He is probably the best defensive midfielder in the world playing for Barcelona and Spain national team.

Sergio Busquets’s father Carlos Busquets was a former professional footballer and played as a goalkeeper for Barcelona for several years during the 1990s, although almost exclusively as a backup. Therefore, Busquets began to play football when he was very young.
Busquets joined Barcelona youth team in the summer of 2005 from Jabac. He played for the U19A side and won three major trophies. The team also included Bojan, Giovani, Jeffren and Marc Crosas who are excellent footballers at present.
He still played for the U19A side but became a core player in that team. Busquets made 26 appearances and scored seven goals totally.
Busquets moved up to Barça B. He completed his debut in the match of Catalan Cup. On 13 September, 2008, he debuted in the match of La Liga against Real Racing Club de Santander. Busquets scored his first goal for Barcelona on 22 October 2008.
He scored his first La Liga goal in a match against Athletic Club on 7 March 2009. Then, he started both Copa del Rey and Champions League finals in which he made an incredible twelve months.
Busquets totally appeared in 52 matches in the season. He played 33 matches in the league which helped Barcelona win the champion of La Liga on 17 May 2010. He played 10 matches and won UEFA Champions League. In addition, he played 4 matches in Copa del Rey. In this season, Busquets consolidated his position in midfield on the international scene.
