Nike and Barça jointly unveiled the new away jersey for the club in the new 2017/18 season.
Fútbol Club Barcelona, commonly known as Barça or Barcelona, was founded in 1899 and is a professional Spanish football club with a long history.
Nowadays, it has become a strong team competing in La Liga. The year 2009 was a magic year for the awesome club. Barcelona dominated 2009 and perhaps achieved the greatest footballing year in the history of international football. It participated in six finals and won a total of six trophies which placed Barcelona on top. The club won Copa del Rey on May 13, La Liga on May 16, UEFA Champions League on May 27, Spanish Supercup on August 23, European Supercup on August 28 and FIFA Club World Cup on December 19.
These victories owe to excellent professional footballers. Sergio Busquets is probably the best defensive midfielder in the world and is the fifth player in the current FC Barcelona squad to play 300 matches for Barcelona. Lionel Messi has got five FIFA Ballon d’Or awards in his football career and received the fourth Golden Shoe award thanks to his 37 goals in 2016/17 season.
Traditionally, the club’s home jersey is red and blue, so it is called Azulgrana in Catalan.
Inspired by the club’s history, the new away football shirt’s predominant color is blue with dark red and blue stripes: a blue and red stripe is knitted on the collar; a red stripe and a blue one are put on the right and left respectively providing adequate ventilation when players is in motion. Besides, the shirt features a simple V-neck and a small Catalan flag is placed at the back of the collar. On the inside of the shirt there is the word “Força(power)” on the inner right sleeve and “Barça” on the left reminding of the club’s victories.
Nike Swoosh, the badge of the club and Rakuten decorate the front of the shirt. The shirt’s engineered knit zones, creating a subtle geometric pattern, enhance fit for athletes.

The blue shorts make a contrast with the shirt. It has Nike Swoosh, red stripe on the left and the club crest, blue stripe on the right. The away socks are also blue made by Nike Grip technology. The socks feature “Barça” on the front in darker red and blue lines on the back of the calf reflecting the club’s traditional color and speed.
Each set of the jersey is made from approximately 16 recycled bottles, which demonstrates Nike’s commitment to sustainable innovation, meanwhile, reduces environmental impact. Since 2010, more than three billion plastic bottles from landfills have been collected, enough to cover about 5,200 football pitches, and converted into recycled polyester as raw material showing Nike’s awareness of environmental protection.
